Like every year on January 17th, Latteria Sorrentina pays homage to Saint Anthony sitting around the Fuocarazzo, as we call the legendary bonfires lit in honor of the Saint. In a tradition that has lasted for over 5 generations, on this magical night the Amodio family gathers to celebrate the Patron Saint of animals and pizza makers. For us Fiordilatte producers, this is a crucial time of the year that allows us to solemnly evoke the ancestral values governing the relationship between humans and animals. In particular, Latteria Sorrentina takes the opportunity to celebrate its bond with the cow, whose milk is the key ingredient of its core business.
We would have liked to honor this anniversary together with our fiordamici pizza makers as in past years, but unfortunately the social distancing restrictions still don’t allow us to celebrate like in the old days. Yet, despite these impediments, Latteria Sorrentina is still driven by the same ardent passion which burns like a living flame. That’s why this January 17th we will take part in Vera Pizza Day, at the invitation of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.
AVPN this year too organized a live streaming with 22 masterclasses from all continents. 24 hours to tell the world’s most famous dish in a global event involving 15 countries and 12 different languages, plus a special masterclass for hearing-impaired people which for the first time will see the use of the sign language. Because pizza, with its products, is no longer just a dish, but a worldwide concept loved by everyone.
